At the invitation of the Health, Well-being, and Performance Laboratory, and with a presentation by Dr. Maria da Graça Pereira, Dr. Marc Jones will be delivering the conference titled "Stress, health and performance in extreme environments: From sport performance to space travel" on Friday, September 29th, at 12:15 PM in room 0.27 at EPsi.
Bio
Marc is a Professor of Psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University. His work is focused on understanding the impact of stress on health, wellbeing and performance. The protocols, and approach, that Marc and colleagues have developed for the assessment and training of stress responses, and enhancing performance, have been utilized by businesses, education, professional athletes and sports teams. In addition to his ongoing work in sport and business, Marc is working on, research and consultancy projects in stress, wellbeing and health in extreme environments. These include military settings, space travel and emergency medicine groups. Marc has published widely with over 100 publications comprising peer-review papers, books and book chapters.
Resume
The talk will cover a biopsychosocial perspective to understanding stress, health and performance. Marc will cover his research in a range of different environments, all of which can be considered extreme in that reflect uncertainty, effort and the potential for harm. The research will report data from emergency medicine, sport performance, remote working in a pandemic, defense and security settings and ongoing work in analogue space missions.
