CIPsi in the media | Nomophobia, the fear of being disconnected

Nomophobia is "the fear of being disconnected," explains Teresa Freire, coordinator at CIPsi's Development and Psychopathology Laboratory, in an interview to Diário do Minho.

Although increasingly common, it is a phobia that few people know about and applies in the context of the use of technological artifacts, being more prevalent in the use of mobile phones.

Nomophobia is characterized by the fear of being disconnected from the world when we are not connected and can be avoided by promoting activities away from electronic devices, especially among the younger generation.
