Martim Santos, PhD, is a Research Fellow at the Psychology Research Centre (CIPsi), School of Psychology, University of Minho - Health & Family Research Group (GISEF). His main research lines focus on the triad patient-family-health outcomes, including the psychophysiological and psychosocial processes associated with various public health concerns, such as chronic illnesses and acute injuries, from a biopsychosocial perspective, in order to inform the design of evidence-based intervention programs aimed at preventing disease and promoting health and quality of life in patients and their families/caregivers. In 2019, he was awarded a PhD Grant in a competitive call, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), and completed his PhD in Applied Psychology at the University of Minho in 2024, with distinction (Very Good). He also has an Integrated Master's Degree in Psychology from the same higher education institution (2017) and is a Clinical and Health Psychologist, with expertise and training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), clinical neuropsychology, behavioral medicine, and family-centered practices. Martim Santos has extensive scientific work and has published more than ten papers in peer-reviewed international journals with impact factor (mostly indexed on Web of Science or Scopus), which have resulted in over 120 citations (Scopus h-index: 5). During his PhD, he collaborated with the Psychology Association of the University of Minho (APsi-UMinho), in the Health & Illness Psychotherapy Consultation and the Psychological Crisis Intervention Line (SOS-Psi), and was a member of the Course Committee and of the Pedagogical Council. He is currently a member of renowned international and national scientific societies, namely the American Psychological Association (APA), as part of APA Division 5: Quantitative and Qualitative Methods, with relevant experience as a speaker, organizer, and moderator of scientific events in his area of expertise.
