Talk | Memória de destino: Já contaste essa piada antes!

Pedro Albuquerque, coordinator at CIPsi's  Human Memory research group, presented the lecture "Enhancing and Diminishing Destination Memory: Where Should We Focus Our Attention?" at the University of Granada on January 25th.

When someone reminds us that we've told a joke before, we may feel embarrassed. This highlights the importance of remembering who we've conveyed certain information to.

During the conference, the CIPsi researcher addressed the phenomenon of destination memory, which involves associating what is said (transmitted information) with whom it is said to (the recipient of the information). Pedro Albuquerque explained that our attention, when transmitting information, is more focused on the sender and the content, leaving fewer resources to associate the information with the recipient. Furthermore, focusing on personal information can further impair destination memory.

The studies presented provide an overview of how our attention influences our ability to remember to whom we've conveyed information.
