Researchers Paula Magalhães, Beatriz Pereira, Gabriela Figueiredo, Camila Aguiar, Cátia Silva, Hélder Oliveira, and Pedro Rosário have published an article in the "International Journal of Human–Computer Interaction" titled "An Iterative Mixed-Method Study to Assess the Usability and Feasibility Perception of CANVAS® as a Platform to Deliver Interventions for Children."
The article addresses the growing demand for healthy eating interventions, especially for children, using digital platforms. Digital interventions for healthy eating are an increasingly important tool; however, low adherence and high dropout rates can compromise effectiveness.
This study focuses on evaluating the usability of the CANVAS® platform, a Learning Management System (LMS) software designed to create, distribute, and manage digital learning content. The study identified facilitators (e.g., likability) and perceived barriers (e.g., low digital literacy) for children's use of the platform in intervention studies. Additionally, it outlined implications for those intending to conduct online interventions with children on this platform or similar ones (e.g., content should be relevant but also fun and appealing; incorporate social interaction with peers; involve parents).
